MUSKOGEE, Okla. (AP) -- A Tahlequah man pleaded guilty on Thursday to a federal felony charge linked to a note and "hoax device" left in the area of a cafeteria at Northeastern State University.

William Scott Kramer, 37, entered the plea before U.S. Magistrate Kimberly E. West. He will be sentenced at a later date on the charge, which carries a maximum penalty of five years in prison and a fine of up to $250,000.

U.S. Attorney Sheldon J. Sperling said Kramer, a food service employee, was charged after an investigation by federal and state authorities, including the Oklahoma Highway Patrol bomb squad.

The device was found last April at the college in Tahlequah with a note that said, "I am going to blow this place up and kill everyone in it. I mean it."

Alcohol, Tobacco and Firearms and Explosives Special Agent Carlos Sandoval previously quoted Kramer as saying he was stupid to have left the note and the device.

OHP bomb squad member Buddy Hamilton determined the device was a hoax.
