COLUMBUS, Ohio (AP) _ Illinois has pulled the latest shocking upset in college football by downing top-ranked Ohio State 28-21. It's the Illini's first win over a Number 1-ranked team since 1956 and ends Ohio State's 20-game Big Ten winning streak.

The Illini fell behind 7-0 in the first quarter but at the half the game was tied at 14 as quarterback Juice Williams passed for two scores. He completed two more touchdown passes in the third quarter before Ohio State's Chris Wells rushed for a score, making it Indiana 28, Ohio State 21 after three.

Williams completed 12 of 22 for 140 yards in addition to his career-high four TD passes.

Illinois was embarrassed by Ohio State 40-2 two years ago. It's the biggest win of the Ron Zook era at Illinois. Zook says his team ``has come a long way'' since he took over the struggling Big Ten team

Illinois iced it with a ball-control clinic at the end. It finished the game by running off the final 8:09 of the clock with a 16-play drive that officially ended Ohio State's national championship dreams and its perfect season. Ohio State is 10-and-1.
