When former Union kicker Tress Way lines up for a field goal he can only think of one thing:  "Don't miss this, you're going to have to hear from Mom later," Way said.

Yes, coaches and teammates take a backseat to Debra Way.

"I think as a mom you go, ‘what are you doing! You know what you're supposed to be doing! What are you doing?' It's kind of an Italian thing I think," said Debra Way.

Mom's tough love has made Tress Way the person he is today. The guy with the golden toe is set to become a Sooner.

"Football in Norman is huge," Tress Way said. "I said, 'You know that'd be really cool to go play in Norman in front of 85,000 fans. I kinda wanted to see what that was like. I worked hard and it paid off and I cannot wait."

After putting Mom on the edge of her seat, making kicks like the game winner in round one of the backyard bowl, Way is ready for the big time and the Big 12.

"They want me to come right in and start working with the kicking team. I've been blessed with a pretty strong leg and can kick the ball pretty deep," Tress Way said.

"This is a dream," Debra Way said. "You know you grow up in Oklahoma and little kids say 'I'd like to play for OU, be a Tulsa Hurricane or an OSU Cowboy. For him to get that knowing how hard he's worked it's amazing."
