Students Prepare For The Future

It can be tough for young people to transition into the "real world" after graduation. Students of Rogers County High School stepped into a "pretend" life today at the Claremore Expo Center and took a shot at what it's like.

Each student was assigned a career, a salary, a checkbook, and a random marital status with up to three children.

The students then spent some time with businessmen and women who helped them pay those bills and spend money responsibly. There was also a police officer walking around making sure the students obeyed the law.

"I did pretty good. I was a lawyer and I got a $500 ticket for assaulting a police officer at the end, but still made it out with $699," said Inola High School Senior, Hunter Johnson.

If you lose at this "pretend" life and come out broke, you don't get put in jail or anything, the students received a tiny candy bar. But, the ones who did well received a "Payday" and could go for the mega-sweets.
