Glenpool, Catoosa and Liberty Public Schools are among area school systems whose voters  approved bond issues Tuesday, April 1.  A super majority, or 60%, approval was needed to pass bond issues.

The Glenpool Public School system asked voters to fund construction needed to house its growing student population.   A total of 356 voters, or 85.4%, approved the bond issue with 61 people (14.6%) voting 'nay.'

Construction projects will focus on Glenpool Elementary School which is projected to see the largest increase in student population from the recent boom in housing additions in the Glenpool area.  The school plans to construct new classrooms, all-purpose activity rooms and bathrooms at the elementary school campus, including its Early Childhood Building.

An additional four classrooms are also planned for Glenpool High School.  Remodeling work will be done to Glenpool Middle School, according to Principal Danna Garland.  The school will increase its bus fleet with transportation funds after 352 (86.7%) 'yes' votes passed the transportation bond.  Voters numbering 54 (13.3%) were opposed to the bond issue.

In Catoosa, voters decided a $9.195 million construction bond issue and a $1.215 million transportation bond.  The construction bond passed with 946 votes, or 83.6%.  Nay voters tallied 186 or 16.4% of the voting public.  The transportation bond also passed, by 81.9% (925 votes).  A total of 460 voters were against the bond issue.

Liberty Public Schools received voter approval for a $450,000 construction bond for the purpose of constructing, equipping, repairing and remodeling school buildings.  The school system also got the go-ahead for $50,000 in transportatiion equipment.
