Tulsa became a little greener on Saturday thanks to volunteers who helped with Operation Clean Sweep.  Mayor Kathy Taylor helped kick off the month-long event which is sponsored by the city of Tulsa, the Metropolitan Environmental Trust, and Keep Tulsa Beautiful.  This weekend's litter abatement program began at Nathan Hale High School and included all of 21st Street.

"The MET provides gloves and bags for people if they want to gather church group, boy scout groups and clubs together to help us clean up this city," said Mayor Kathy Taylor.

Operation Clean Sweep will even haul away bags once they're filled up.  You can pick up bags at one of the five recreation centers listed below.

  • Lacy Park, 2134 N. Madison Place, 596-1470
  • McClure Park, 7440 E. 7th Street, 669-6678
  • Hicks Park, 3443 S. Mingo Road, 669-6355
  • Reed Park, 4233 S. Yukon Avenue, 591-4307
  • Whiteside Park 4009 S. Pittsburg Avenue, 746-5040
