If catfishing was an Olympic event, there's an Oklahoma man who would likely take home the gold.  News On 6 anchor Craig Day reports the man has a whopper of a fish tale after his latest catch.

Ed Coleman is one of the happiest and most content guys you'll ever meet.  He lives on 20 acres near Braggs.  He loves the quiet and being outdoors.  All of his pets and his 11 grandkids keep him busy, and there's no doubt about it, one thing is a big part of his life.

"I'm retired.  I fish. About six days a week," said Ed Coleman.

It's not just any fish that Coleman is after.  He's caught thousands of catfish over the past 50 years.  But, few compare to his latest catch.  Even Coleman was surprised at what he and his son pulled from the Arkansas River.

The flathead is about four feet long, and weighs 65 pounds which is about four times the size of the catfish Coleman usually catches.

"He could eat this fish right there.  Lookey there.  Ouh.  Dad gum them teeth are sharp," said Ed Coleman.

"My dad was a professional noodler.  I never could get into that.  Can you? Huh?  I'll take you down there and see if you want to put your hands in this fish's mouth.  Okay.  That would be like jumping on a 100 pound bulldog while he's under a rock," said Ed Coleman.

Instead, Coleman turned to his tried and true method of jug line fishing.  It's a method that has worked so well over the years.

"I hope I don't get throwed out of Heaven for killing all the fish in the world," said Ed Coleman.

But as for the monster he just caught, instead of the fryer, Coleman plans to release it back to the Arkansas River in the hopes of catching it again, after it puts on a little more weight.

"You catch one 100 pounds you might as well quit because you're never going to catch one any bigger.  Right?" said Ed Coleman.
