TULSA, OK -- A local children's shelter is getting a makeover thanks to area Lowe's stores. Volunteers from seven Tulsa stores hosted a carnival on Friday for the kids at the Laura Dester Shelter at 619 S. Quincy Avenue.
The children enjoyed a moon jump, several carnival games and got to hammer some stuff. Volunteers renovated much of the shelter's play area earlier this week.
"They've really helped this shelter out and given the kids something they can enjoy, as well as staff can enjoy and look out and be proud of. That's gonna last for a long time," said Laura Dester social worker Jeremy Christy.
Lowe's Heroes is a volunteer initiative to help neighbors make their community a better place to live.
