Glenpool's Gobblin'

GLENPOOL, OK -- Warrior coach Steve Edwards is giving his team a healthy helping of turkey talk.

"I don't know if he could call in a real turkey but he tried his best," said offensive lineman Dalton Howeth. "He sounded pretty good this morning."

"It's pretty good," said safety Seth Giles. "It's really good actually. He cracks me up."

"I give my turkey calls out here trying to get them fired up," said Edwards.

Before anyone can proclaim, "pass the gravy," Glenpool's popping pads and playing with the pigskin on Thanksgiving morning.

"It's always a blessing to be out here on Thanksgiving Day," said Howeth. "A lot of people were wondering if we were going to have practice. We always have practice on Thanksgiving. It's an honor."

For some, post-practice means a big Thanksgiving meal, for others Saturday's semi-final game is food for thought.

"I'm trying to be conservative and not gain any weight this week," said Howeth. "I'm trying to stay light and quick for the game."

"I'm not like (Howeth) over there," said Giles. "I'm going to try and put away a lot."

In feasting fashion, the Warriors are looking to pack on the points and leave no leftovers on the table against Broken Bow, a team they beat just 7-6 in last year's semis.

"They think we got out on a fluke," said Edwards. "Our boys know that we didn't play our best game and they maybe feel the same way. They're going to tune up and get ready for us and be ready to play. I assure you we're going to be ready to play."
