TULSA, OK -- The Tulsa Fire Department found two people dead inside a car.

Crews received a call from a passerby reporting a car wreck and grass fire at about 10:00  Saturday night near 3600 N. Yale Ave.

When they got to the scene, Captain Michael Baker, Public Information Officer for the Tulsa Fire Department, said firefighters found a white Hyundai split in half. The driver and a passenger were dead.  The victims have been identified as Francisco and Dorothy Garcia, both 42 years old.

Officers with the Tulsa Police Department are investigating what happened, but say they believe the car was traveling at excessive speeds and hit a large utility pole.

"They didn't see the turn coming, probably, but their speed is gonna be just incredibly excessive in this to almost just shear the car in two, which is just crazy speed," said Captain Shawn King, Tulsa Police.
