McKenzie Gladney's career as a reporter begins here at News On 6. She graduated Magna Cum Laude from the University of Oklahoma where she was an ambassador of the Gaylord College of Journalism and an anchor/reporter for "OU Nightly." While earning her degree in Broadcast Journalism and minor in Social Justice, she also spent time in newsrooms at News 9 in Oklahoma City and CNN's Washington D.C. Bureau as an intern.
McKenzie's true passion in life is learning about her community and being a voice for her community. As a journalist at News On 6, she is committed to sharing stories that are important to the community, no matter how big or small. Community-focused journalism is McKenzie's greatest passion because of the impact it can have on people. McKenzie lives by this motto: “Stand up for those who can't be seen, speak up for those who can't be heard. You may not change the world, but you can change someone's world.”
McKenzie is a member of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Incorporated, National Association of Black Journalists, and The University of Oklahoma National Black Alumni Society. When she's not reporting, she loves traveling, going to brunch, volunteering, shopping and watching Netflix.
McKenzie is excited to tell real stories that matter about the real people of Oklahoma. So, if you've got a story idea you'd like to share or advice on a fun place to check out, she'd love to hear from you!
