Road Trip Oklahoma stopping in Yukon

With 25 residents, Yukon, Oklahoma was established in 1891 and has since grown into a town of well over 20,000 people. The Yukon Mill and Grain Company, opened in 1893, was the city's largest source of industrial growth. With more than 7,000 students, Yukon's school system currently consists of seven kindergarten through 3rd grade elementary schools, two 4th and 5th grade elementary schools, one middle school, and one high school campus.   • "Mulvey's Pond" in Yukon was the last guaranteed watering hole on Chisholm Trail.
  • Garth Brooks worked for the Parks Maintenance department in the summers. Weed eating, etc.
  • Elenor Roosevelt visited Yukon in the 1940s and was given a bouquet of red roses.
  • Czech Festival takes place in Yukon annually on the first Saturday in October. It is one of the largest free festivals in the state with approximately 50,000 people attending in 2011.
  • Chisholm Trail Park in Yukon is built in the shape of a boot. It can be seen very clearly from an aerial view. It is home to our Freedom Fest for 4th of July celebration with approximately 50,00 attending.
  • Czech Hall is home to a dance every Saturday night since the 1930. Everyone is welcome to come and learn to polka along with other dances. Czech Hall was built in 1901 and the original name was "Bohemian Hall."

Yukon Chamber Coffee

Stan Miller, Robin Marsh, and Jed Castles will drop by the Yukon Chamber coffee to hear the news of Yukon. This week's coffee is at the Express Clysdale Barn.

Dale Robertson Activity Center

Lauren Nelson and Christina Eckert will join seniors as they boogie down in Zumba class.

Leadership Luncheon

Amanda Taylor and Kelly Ogle will participate in a special noon discussion meeting of Yukon leaders.

Yukon Middle School

Gary England will teach kids about Oklahoma weather during an entertaining and informative weather presentation. Val Castor will join in on the fun with a special presentation.
