TULSA, OK -- The Tulsa Police Department has released an internal audit report concerning the department's firearms range.
In a news release, TPD says the audit was requested by the police chief's office.
The audit called for an examination of the department's existing weapon inventory and the
system of internal controls for the department's weapons and ammunition division.
The audit investigated the status of 5,412 weapons and found discrepancies in 25 of those weapons.
Police Chief Ron Palmer says thanks to the audit, the department has taken steps toward operating its firearms range in a more professional and businesslike manner.
