BARTLESVILLE, OK -- Vandals caused about $5,000 in damage to a city park in Bartlesville early Friday morning.

City officials say the damage will also delay the opening of a city pool by a week.

Bartlesville Police Chief Tom Holland says someone stole a track hoe parked at Sooner Park on the east side of town and used it to damage fences, a tower and the Sooner Pool building.

Holland says the track hoe was at the park for work on Sooner Pool.

Police got their first call about the incident at about 3 a.m. when someone reported loud noise coming from the park.

When police officers arrived at the park they discovered the damage.
