McIntosh Co. Undersheriff Resigns

EUFAULA, OK -- McIntosh County Undersheriff Mykol Travis Brookshire, 38, has submitted his resignation.

Brookshire along with former sheriff Terry Jones, 36, were charged last month in federal court in Muskogee with depriving a motorist of his civil rights.

Jones resigned last week.

The McIntosh County commissioners interviewed six candidates for the sheriff's job on Tuesday, after getting 13 applicants for the job.

The commissioners have scheduled a special meeting for Wednesday morning to vote on Jones' replacement.

That person will serve until a special election in July 2010. The winner of the special election will serve out Jones' term through 2012.
