Stone Bluff Lavender Festival this Saturday

STONE BLUFF, OK -- Judy Wheeler loves lavender. On a trip to France she noticed people shipping cases of the ancient herb back home and she had the idea to start growing it herself.
Now she and her husband own Lavender Hill Farm, a winery and lavender farm in Stone Bluff, about 20 minutes' drive southeast of Tulsa.
'It's changed the course of my life," said Judy. "I grew up in Tulsa, Tulsa girl, and although I was an avid gardener, this is really farming."
Now rows of the purple flowers grace the acreage outside the door of Judy's shop, where she sells everything lavender.
"I've been to lavender farms from Nova Scotia to Santa Fe and when I find a product that I like I try to include it. You can by things from Oklahoma and you can buy things from France as well. It's kind of fun to be one of those people here in Oklahoma that has done something a little different and unexpected."
And for a different and unexpected time this Saturday, June 6th, visit the Stone Bluff Lavender Festival at Lavender Hill Farm. From 9am-4pm there will be live music, wine-tasting, around 50 vendors selling arts and crafts. It will be a celebration of lavender.
