TULSA, OK -- U.S. Attorney David O'Meilia tenders his resignation.  He announced on Thursday afternoon that he will leave his post effective at midnight June 28th, 2009.

O'Meilia became the acting U.S. Attorney for the Northern District of Oklahoma on October 5th, 2001, after he was nominated by President George W. Bush.  Following a confirmation hearing in the U.S. Senate, he was appointed to the post on December 5th, 2001.

O'Meilia is a graduate of Oklahoma State University and the University of Tulsa's School of Law.  He intends to return to private practice with a Tulsa law firm.
