TULSA, OK -- SWAT teams from all around the country are taking aim on Oklahoma.  More than 600 sharp shooters are in Tulsa for the 2009 U.S. National SWAT Championships.

Dressed in full tactical gear, shooters compete in live fire exercises that test weapon proficiency, fitness, teamwork and toughness.  Prizes are awarded to individuals and teams.

While the competition is intense, most teams treat the event as a training exercise.

"It's going to expose us to new tactics, uh, things we haven't been around before.  And, just the camaraderie that it builds," said Garden City, Kansas, Police Lt David Smith.

The competition runs through Saturday at the U.S. Shooting Academy in Tulsa which is the leading firearms training facility in the country.
