TULSA, OK -- North Tulsans are trying to stop the violence in their community.  Community members gathered at the "Generation of Destiny Community Center" near 46th street North and Peoria for vigil Sunday evening.

They say they're tired of seeing their kids die in the streets.

Jason Trent understands the violence all too well.  You might remember back in May, Trent's son Jake answered the door at a friend's home and was shot to death.

Now, Jason is trying to protect other families from that same fate.

"We just wanted them all to come together so we can start healing each other. You know, this will enlist us to all healing ourselves and making a difference in everyone's lives," said Jason Trent.

Trent says together the Tulsa community can change, not just for North Tulsa, but the entire city.
