TULSA, OK -- Tulsa Community College is reporting an enrollment of 11,645 full-time students this fall, a 12% increase from fall 2008.

That 12% translates to 1,214 more students from fall 2008.

School officials say they are pleased with the numbers.

"Tulsa Community College is excited to welcome such a large fall class," said Dr. Tom McKeon, president & CEO. "Whether they are starting college for the first time, looking to upgrade their job skills or earn a degree for a new career we hope our low cost and wide variety of course offerings enable the students to be successful in earning degrees and achieving their education dreams."

TCC joined other state colleges over the summer by announcing it would not increase tuition or mandatory fees for the 2009-2010 academic year.

School officials say the cost per credit hour at TCC remains at $90.15.

In a news release, TCC says it also welcomed the largest Tulsa Achieves class in the program's history.

Nearly 1,600 Tulsa County high school seniors took advantage of the free tuition program and have enrolled in fall classes at TCC.
