TULSA, OK -- Hundreds of children in northeast Oklahoma won't go hungry thanks to a big donation from Wal-Mart.
The Wal-Mart Foundation announced $100,000 to food banks in the Tulsa and Oklahoma City areas. Half of the money is for the Community Food Bank of Eastern Oklahoma's Food 4 Kids Backpack Program.
Right now, the food bank gives about 4,000 students a backpack full of food every Friday during the entire school year.
"This check from Wal-Mart will allow us to add 350 more students to the program. So, it's a Godsend," said Community Food Bank of Eastern Oklahoma Executive Director Sara Waggoner.
The food bank says the Food 4 Kids Backpack Program ensures children have healthy food to eat over the weekend.
