TULSA, OK -- Imagine having a special place to solve problems and settle disputes. That's the idea behind peace tables which are a part of the Global Gardens Program.  The Global Gardeners at Rosa Parks Elementary are enthusiastic about the project and its prospects.

Students at Tulsa Union's Rosa Parks Elementary School are building peace tables.

"If two people have an issue, they can come together across from one another, look them in the eye and figure out what's going on," said Global Gardens Outreach Director Ayschia Saiymeh.

The peace tables are an integral part of the Global Gardens Program.  he newest Global Garden Rosa Parks Elementary has the newest Global Garden spot and the students wanted a table, but they didn't want to just buy one.

"They decided they wanted to build it themselves, to make sure that every part of it was really peaceful," said Global Gardens Outreach Director Ayschia Saiymeh.

The students started working on the table during the summer and they are almost finished.

They are also building a second table, which will be a traveling peace table. The table would spread peace by introducing others to the peace table.  After all, who doesn't need a special place to resolve conflict?

The first function of the peace tables will be as dinner tables.

The Global Gardeners will host a harvest dinner a week from Saturday to celebrate the completion of the peace tables.
