TULSA, OK -- Police were on their way to search a Tulsa man's house on a narcotics sting when they found the Tulsa Fire Department had gotten there first due to a meth lab blaze.

George William Didlott, 45, was arrested at the scene for three felony complaints: manufacturing and possession of methamphetamines and first degree arson.

Tulsa fire responded to the incident at about 9:30 p.m. Friday in the 1600 block of South College Avenue.

"The individual who started the fire was producing methamphetamine and was under surveillance by the Tulsa Police Department," said Bill French of the Tulsa Fire Department..

"According to Fire Investigator Jeff Vandolah, the fire started when the police officers were just blocks away."

Didlott was caught jumping out of a glass window on the south side of the house, according to a Tulsa Police department arrest report. Inside the house police found needles, baggies and assorted drug paraphernalia.

He reportedly told police that he was trying to clean up the chemicals after cooking meth when a flash fire occured in the garage.

There was an 11-year-old boy inside the house at the time of Didlott's arrest.
