TULSA, OK -- A suspect is in the Tulsa County jail after he was apprehended early Tuesday morning fleeing from an attempted business burglary in a north Tulsa shopping center.

Tulsa Police say officers were en-route to investigate a burglary alarm at a clothing store in the Springdale Shopping Center at Pine and Lewis at about 3:45 a.m.

A police officer checking the rear of the store spotted a car drive across some grass and north on Zunis.

Police say the car missed a T-intersection at Reading and struck a tree. After hitting the tree, the suspect continued to drive through a yard and fence before stopping at Reading and Yorktown.

The unidentified suspect was arrested and officers found a sledgehammer in the car.

Tulsa Police say the back door of the business had had its lock knocked off, but they believe the suspect was scared off by the alarm before making it inside.
