BROKEN BOW, OK -- An Oklahoma agriculture teacher and horse trainer is $50,000 richer after being named Dickies 2009 American Worker of the Year. The Broken Bow teacher has the chance to turn the 50 grand into a cool million.

Twenty-three-year-old Michael McGee was selected from thousands of candidates for embodying the American Dream, according to a Dickies press release. He was named during intermission at the Professional Bull Riders World Finals in Las Vegas on October 30.

McGee gets to pick one of 12 drivers in the race for the Dickies 500 NASCAR Sprint Cup Series next Saturday. If that driver wins the race, McGee gets $1 million.

McGee was valedictorian at his high school and put himself through college with scholarships and working. He bought his own home and a 41-acre farm at the age of 23. He runs a horse training business from that location and works as a full-time teacher.

"I feel so fortunate to be recognized by Dickies out of all the hard working men and women in this country," McGee said. "I want to tell everyone no matter who you are or where you come from, through hard work and determination you can accomplish anything."
