Jenks, OK -- Some Jenks first graders are helping make the holidays warmer for some of the youngest Oklahomans.

The students in Sarah Chimblo's class at Jenks East Elementary are making blankets for Emergency Infant Services.

Blankets are one of the agency's biggest needs and Mrs. Chimblo says this labor of love teaches her students an important lesson about compassion.

"I really hope that it starts the little seed of compassion in them so that when they become adults, they will have empathy and they will be caring and sensitive towards the needs of others," Chimblo said.

Local businesses and the PTA helped make sure the students had enough fleece to make all those blankets.
