MUSKOGEE, OK -- An employee of a Muskogee liquor store was arrested Tuesday morning by Muskogee Police on a complaint of selling alcohol to persons under the age of 21.

The arrest of Michael Richerson came after the department ran a compliance check at Jay's Liquors at 2421 South York Street.

Police say they had gotten several complaints from concerned parents about the business unlawfully selling to underage teens.

In a report filed with the Muskogee County DA's office, Muskogee Police alleged that Richerson sold alcohol to a person under the age of 21.

"The Special Investigations Unit will continue with compliance checks throughout the following months in an effort to combat underage drinking," said Lt. Andy Simmons, Muskogee Police.

In a news release, Muskogee Police say information about Tuesday's arrest will be forwarded to the A.B.L.E Commission.
