HOUSTON, Texas-- Preliminary tests revealed New England Patriots wide receiver Wes Welker suffered a torn ACL and torn MCL in his left knee during Sunday night's game against the Houston Texans, according to ESPN.
Welker's face was covered by a towel as he was carted off the field in the first quarter. The Pats (10-6) lost the game and likely Welker for the remainder of the season.
Welker, who grew up in Oklahoma City and played for Texas Tech, has been a key playmaker for the Patriots this season. He has 1,336 yards with 123 receptions and four touchdowns this season.
