McLOUD, Oklahoma -- A state Medical Examiner's autopsy report has listed a McLoud police officer's manner of death as "unknown."

Shannon Fredman was found dead in his McLoud home Feb. 11.

The medical examiner determined the cause of death to be a gunshot wound to the head, but the manner of death was pending while awaiting further review by a pathologist.

Oklahoma State Bureau of Investigation spokeswoman Jessica Brown says there's no way to prove whether Fredman's death was accidental or suicide. Brown says there's no evidence of a homicide.

Fredman's mother, Ginny Fredman, believes the shooting was accidental.

She says she spoke with Fredman the day he died and he was excited about being McLoud's new lake ranger.
