NORMAN, Oklahoma -- A jury acquitted 25-year-old Heather Trask of first-degree murder in the death of her 6-month-old daughter, Mackenzie Trask.
The Cleveland County jury deliberated for about five and a half hours before reaching a verdict Thursday.
Mackenzie died on April 6, 2006, after Heather's husband, Jonathan Task, called 911 saying the girl fell off the bed. A medical examiner said the girl died of blunt force trauma that fractured her skull.
Prosecutors accused Trask of allowing abuse that led to Mackenzie's death. Heater's husband, Jonathan Trask, was convicted of first-degree murder in the girl's death and is currently serving a life sentence.
Heather Trask testified Wednesday that she accepted her husband's explanations for bruises on the baby, including one that their toddler son may have caused injuries seen on Mackenzie's face days before her death.
Defense attorney Tracy Schumacher said her client will now try to regain custody of her son.
