Skiatook School Board To Consider Resignation Agreement For Superintendent Johnson

SKIATOOK, OK -- A Green Country superintendent in charge during a spending scandal could resign next week. 

Skiatook's school board placed Superintendent Dr. Gary Johnson on paid leave, after a state audit revealed the district wasted half a million dollars.

Now Johnson's attorney says there's a deal on the table for the suspended superintendent to resign. Attorney Steve Novick will not reveal the terms of the proposal, just that the school board will consider it Monday night.

Meanwhile, the Skiatook community is one step closer to getting a grand jury to investigate their school district. Several Skiatook parents turned in a stack of petitions Friday to the Tulsa County clerk's office.

"We either stand up and do something about it or else we'll be sitting on the sidelines later griping about how this didn't play out like we wanted. So this is our opportunity to say, ‘no, we're going to find out what happened. we ain't gonna run from this,'" said Rob Ridenour, Skiatook Parent.

Organizers say they have 2,600 more signatures than they need. But those names have to be certified and approved by a judge, before a grand jury can be impaneled.
