OKLAHOMA CITY -- Hail victims in Moore said homeowners need to be aware of thieve targeting their homes.

Dozens of roofing company signs dot the lawns of homes at Quail Ridge North in Moore after hail pummeled the neighborhood back on May 10, 2010.

"There is such a high volume of traffic in the neighborhood these days as homeowners are working to get roofs and fences fixed, but I think it's caused a lot of people to let down their guard," said Quail Ridge North Home Owners Association President Jeannie Hawkins.

She said because people are getting used to seeing new faces, eyes are no longer concentrating on the suspicious. It's why she said a neighbor got her home broken into and ransacked during the mid-morning hours of May 24, 2010.

"I think this is probably happening elsewhere," Hawkins said.

Hawkins said she spent Tuesday afternoon handing out flyers to inform her neighbors but believes the story needs to reach outside Moore. She said her neighborhood's story should be a warning to others with storm damage to be aware of who comes and goes and to be extra vigilant on anything that may seem out of place.
