UNDATED -- An Oklahoma Senator grilled President Obama's Supreme Court nominee Tuesday.
Other Republicans have highlighted Elena Kagan's lack of courtroom experience, but Senator Tom Coburn wanted to know how she'd respond to a controversial law.
Senator Tom Coburn,(R) Oklahoma: "If I made a law saying everyone in America had to eat three fruits and vegetables a day everyone had to do it, it's the law. Would that violate the commerce clause?
Elena Kagan, Supreme Court nominee: "Well, I'd say that's a dumb law. But as judges, we shouldn't strike down senselss laws just because they're senseless."
Senator Tom Coburn also expressed his doubts in the entire confirmation process. He encouraged Kagan to answer in specifics and not sidestep controversial topics like most recent nominees have.
Kagan is expected to gain easy Senate confirmation.
