TULSA, OK -- After nearly two months in limbo, dozens of Tulsa teachers are told they will be back on the job next year.
In May, Tulsa Public Schools didn't renew contracts for 286 teachers.

But better than expected budget news has the district recalling more than half of them. The lion share is elementary school teachers with 107. Twenty-nine teach in the district's middle schools, and 52 are in the high schools.
Not all of the teachers let go were invited back.
"We're very focused right now on the number that we can recall and on teachers who have proven to be effective and who want to work in TPS. The good news is we've recalled 188 of them (Friday)," said Dr. Keith Ballard, TPS Superintendent.
TPS still has vacancies in special education and counseling that they will try to fill next week.
