Tulsa Police: Man Shot To Death In His Car

TULSA, OK -- Tulsa police found a 35-year-old man shot to death in his car, and police say they don't believe he was the intended target.

It's the city's 32nd homicide of the year.

Officers were assigned to a shots fired call shortly before 1 a.m. Saturday at 4600 North Cincinnati Avenue. Witnesses told officers they heard 15 shots, but officers did not find a victim.

At about 1:20 a.m., an officer was assigned to an alarm at the Freeze Restaurant. While waiting for management, the officer was approached by a witness who said there was a vehicle in the backyard of 35 East 45 Street North. The officer located the vehicle, a 1993 Chevrolet Caprice, with the homicide victim inside.

The victim has been identified as 35-year-old Markeeto Matthews of Tulsa.

Detectives say they believe the victim was sitting at the stoplight when the unknown suspects fired numerous rounds into the vehicle, striking the victim. Detectives believe the victim was not the intended target.
