TULSA, Oklahoma -- A police department tarnished by corruption is reaching out to the community to rebuild trust and improve its image.
The Tulsa Police Department introduced a new way for citizens to report officer misconduct. Tulsa Police Chief Chuck Jordan made the announcement at press conference Monday afternoon.
A tip line has been established for anyone to leave anonymous tips for the department's Internal Affairs division.
Jordan explained the line will have no caller ID reader and callers can give information without fear of further contact or their identity being revealed.
"We're not going to just sit back and wait," Jordan said. "We're going to give [citizens] an avenue that is much more efficient and effective."
Jordan says this type of anonymous reporting has worked well with the department's Crime Stoppers tip line.
The Tip Line number is 918-596-1355.
