CHEROKEE COUNTY, Oklahoma -- A 47-year-old Ft. Gibson man smelled of alcohol when he was killed in a single car rollover collision, according to a report by the Oklahoma Highway Patrol.

Mario Rosales Sr. was southbound on U.S. Highway 80 about a half mile north of Ft. Gibson at 11:16 Saturday night when his 1970 GMC El Camino failed to negotiate a curve. The driver overcorrected, and the vehicle ran off the roadway to left, striking a guardrail.

The El Camino overturned one half times, and Rosales was pinned in the vehicle for about 45 minutes until he was freed by the Ft. Gibson Fire Department.

He was pronounced dead at the scene by Muskogee County EMS. The vehicle was not equipped with seatbelts, according to Trooper Tommy Mullins' report.

The accident report notes that Rosales smelled of alcoholic beverages. Cause of the collision is listed as other/unknown.
