TULSA, Oklahoma -- The Zeledyne Glass Plant's future in Tulsa may be up in the air after an announcement Thursday that a Japanese company has signed a definitive agreement to acquire certain Zeledyne assets.

Central Glass Co. Ltd says its deal with Zeledyne includes a glass plant in Nashville, Tennessee and certain other Carlite aftermarket glass business.

According to the announcement, the two companies expect the sale to close early this year. Terms of the deal have not been disclosed.

"With the signing of these agreements, Zeledyne and Central Glass begin the final phase of negotiations on details associated with the proposed sale," according to a Central Glass news release. "No timetable has been announced for these confidential negotiations."

Zeledyne spokesperson Della Dipietro, speaking to a Nashville newspaper, said the sale does not include Zeledyne's former Ford Glass plants in Tulsa and Juarez, Mexico.

DiPietro said the company continues "to produce glass at those facilities while we review strategic options."

In January 2010, Zeledyne announced it was shutting down its production lines at the Tulsa facility by the end of March.  That resulted in 210 workers being laid off.
