TULSA, Oklahoma -- Tulsa's Ronald McDonald House has been a source of comfort and convenience for families of sick children for nearly 20 years.

Now the space is getting a facelift, thanks to some businesses and generous volunteers.

"It's really something special to get to help out the Ronald McDonald House," David Soma, with Westlake Ace Hardware, said. It's not something you get to do every day."

"We've just been so blessed," said Glenda Love, with the Ronald McDonald House.

Redonna York, one of the volunteers, stayed at the Ronald McDonald house in Kansas City when her daughter was diagnosed with leukemia.

"As soon as I heard that they were going to do this I felt like it was my calling, it was something I needed to be a part of," said York, with Westlake Ace Hardware, said.

"It's so great to see color in it now and experience them putting their love into it and it just makes it extra special," Love said.

"It's amazing to come back and pay it forward a little bit," York said. "Anytime I can be a part of a project that especially touched my family I'm very excited to do so."

Just last week, doctors told York her daughter is cured of her leukemia.
