BROKEN ARROW, Oklahoma -- A Green Country man is behind bars Wednesday evening after crashing into a Broken Arrow home and leading troopers on a high speed chase.

Members of the family were sleeping when the four-door pickup crashed into their garage.

"I woke up to the sound of sirens and police lights in our bedroom window," said homeowner Monica Ash.

Trooper Suzanna Farley said it all started as a routine traffic stop where the Creek Turnpike meets Kenosha.

"I happened to look over and see a pickup truck coming up out of the grass onto the exit ramp of the Creek – had his flashers on."

Farley followed, but the driver didn't slow down.

"He took off at a high rate of speed," she said. "Very reckless."

Troopers say 32-year-old James Bush was behind the wheel and that he tore through Forrest Ridge Golf Course going more than 100 miles an hour at times.

"I knew that we were probably near his house. That he was trying to create some distance so that he could get to his house," Farley said.

After circling through the neighborhood several times, Bush made a run for it.

"He bailed out of the vehicle before it came to a stop," the OHP trooper said.

Bush fell to the ground, but the truck rolled on - ramping up onto the curb, hitting a street sign, leveling a tree in the front yard and smashing into the garage window.

"My son's bedroom is almost right above the garage so I am glad that no more damage was done to my house," said Monica Ash, homeowner.

"He's got a few minor injuries. He's very lucky that when he bailed out of the vehicle it came very close to running over his upper torso," said Trooper Suzanna Farley of the Oklahoma Highway Patrol.

Bush was taken to a Broken Arrow hospital. He was treated and released and then taken to the Wagoner County jail.
