TULSA, Oklahoma -- Plenty of events are scheduled Monday in honor of Martin Luther King, Jr. Day.

A breakfast will be held Monday morning beginning at 8:30 a.m. The Metropolitan Tulsa Urban League will host the event at 240 East Apache and it is free of charge.

Thousands are expected in this year's Martin Luther King, Jr. Parade in downtown Tulsa.

The parade begins at 11:00 a.m. at John Hope Franklin Boulevard and Detroit Avenue and moves east to Greenwood Avenue where it goes south to Archer and then west to Elgin Avenue.

Several streets in the area will be closed starting at 10:30 a.m. and will reopen at 1:30 p.m.

Shortly after the parade, a rally will take place at the OSU-Tulsa Main Hall beginning at Noon.

The rally will include a presentation to Parade winners and a recital of "I Have a Dream" speech by one of the 3 winners of the 2011 Speech Contest.

Sunday, hundreds hit the streets of downtown Tulsa for a Martin Luther King, Jr. Walk in Peace procession.
