PURCELL, Oklahoma -- The Wayne police chief has been arrested on embezzlement charges.
"OSBI agents have been conducting an investigation into Wayne Police Chief Ronald Reagan for quite some time now [many months] and finally today we did make an arrest on him," said Oklahoma State Bureau of Investigation spokesperson Jessica Brown.
Chief Ronald Reagan is facing three counts of embezzlement.
"OSBI agents arrested him on three counts of embezzlement having to do with money he was taking from the Department of Human Services that was earmarked for victims of child abuse. He was using that for his own personal use," said Brown.
OSBI investigators have obtained search warrants for the Wayne Police Department and Reagan's home in Purcell.
He was currently being held in the McClain County Jail on a $50,000 bail, but he has bonded out.
The city council is holding an emergency meeting Friday night to decide what to do about Reagan's job as a police chief.
