TULSA, Oklahoma – A man was arrested Thursday night in connection with a deadly shooting early Thursday morning.

John Tom Jackson III, 31, was arrested for the death of Ola Ogunlana, 31.

Ogunlana's body was found lying in a yard of a home in the 700 block of 33rd Street North early Thursday morning.  Police said he suffered multiple gunshot wounds to the upper torso.

According to an arrest report, witnesses told police that Jackson and Ogunlana had gotten into an argument at a nearby residence moments before the shooting occurred.  Witnesses said the two went outside and continued arguing in the street when several gunshots were heard, the report said.

According to the report, a witness said Jackson told another woman "Don't tell, don't tell."  The witness said Jackson ran to the street, dragged Ogunlana's body off the road, took his clothing, and ran off, the report said.

Tips led police to a north Tulsa home where Jackson was believed to live Thursday evening.  Officers surrounded the home in the 700 block of East 32nd Place North just about 4 p.m. Thursday.

Officers deployed tear gas and pepper spray to get him to come out, but he was not inside the home.

According to the arrest report, Jackson made contact with officers on the phone and told detectives he would meet them at the police station in downtown Tulsa.

"We had been in contact with him, but he wouldn't indicate where actually he was," Officer Leland Ashley said.  "With the information we had received we believed him being inside."

Jackson was interviewd and arrested for Ogunlana's murder.  He was booked into the Tulsa County jail on one complaint of first degree murder.
