TULSA, Oklahoma -- Tulsa police say alcohol may have played a role in an overnight accident that took out a transformer in the area of 15th Street and 79th East Avenue at about 2 a.m. Saturday.

Emergency workers were initially notified that the transformer was down, and they found a badly damaged pickup truck in the middle of 15th Street. The truck was apparently going eastbound on 15th Street when it left the roadway at about 78th East Avenue, crashing into several gas meters and some phone equipment.

The truck then crossed 79th East Avenue, hit a utility pole and dragged a section of the pole about 10 to 15 yards. The truck eventually stopped another block down 15th Street.

Several residents were without electric, gas or phone services as repairs were made.

Witness said the occupants of the truck left the scene on foot, according to police.
