OL Trent Dupy

Background:

Dupy started several games at center as a true freshman for Tulsa in 2009 and played significant time in several others.

Why He’s on the List:

The Golden Hurricane gave up the third most sacks in the nation last season. The center is responsible for adjusting protection calls and alignments for the offensive line. Not all the sacks are on the offensive line, but giving up the third most in the nation certainly means there is a problem.

Best Case Scenario:

Center is probably the toughest position to play as a true freshman other than quarterback. A year of experience and a season of college weightlifting should work wonders for Dupy. Coaches do not normally play true freshman at center unless they have to or unless they see something special. With Dupy it was a combination of both.

Worst Case Scenario:

Confidence is key with high level athletes, and after a season like 2009, you have to wonder where Dupy and the rest of the offense line’s head is at. If their confidence is shot then the line could remain just as porous as it was last year.

My Take:

It would be really hard to go anywhere but up for Dupy and the offensive line. As previously stated, Dupy should benefit from a year of experience as should the rest of the offensive line. He should also be able to show the rest of the world what the coaches saw in him as a true freshman.
