Damaris Johnson Named C-USA Special Teams Player of the Week

Johnson had more than 300 all-purpose yards in TU's win over Rice.

TULSA, Oklahoma – Golden Hurricane receiver and return man Damaris Johnson picked up the Conference USA Special Teams Player of the Week award on Monday.

It is the second straight week Johnson has won the award.

In Tulsa’s 64-27 blowout of Rice on Saturday, Johnson became Conference USA’s all-time leader in kick return yards with 3,054. He needs just 64 more to become the NCAA’s all-time leader.

Johnson had 322 all-purpose yards in the game, which shot him up another NCAA list.

Coming into the game, he was 19th on the NCAA’s all-purpose yardage list. By the end of the game, he was 10th on the career list with 6,824 yards.

Johnson scored on 12 and 41-yard pass receptions and also returned a kick 94 yards for a touchdown in the third quarter.

He had Tulsa's first 100-plus-yard receiving game this year with 163 yards and two touchdowns on eight catches.
