Golden Hurricane Dominated by Houston in C-USA Opener
Tulsa was unable to get going against the Houston Cougars' defense in its first conference matchup.

HOUSTON, Texas -- The Tulsa Golden Hurricane started the C-USA season on a down note Thursday with a 78-48 loss at the hands of the Houston Cougars.
The Cougars enjoyed a comfortable lead for the majority of the game; the closest the Golden Hurricane came was a 5-2 deficit just two minutes into the game.
Tulsa only managed 19 points in the first half of the game, while Houston scored 44 in the opening 20 minutes to take a commanding halftime lead.
The Cougars held a 30-point lead for the majority of the game.
Houston’s Brittney Scott led all scorers with 17 points and nine rebounds. Courtney Taylor contributed 16 and grabbed eight boards.
Taleya Maybery was the only Tulsa player to score in double-digits with 12 points.
The Golden Hurricane will try to notch its first conference win of the season at 2 p.m. Sunday at home against the Rice Owls.
