KANSAS CITY – A disappointing season for the Cowgirls ended with a disappointing first-round exit at the Big 12 tournament.

OSU, the 11-seed in the Women’s Big 12 tournament, dropped a 75-52 contest to sixth-seeded Texas Tech on Tuesday at Municipal Auditorium.

An encouraging start for Oklahoma State slowly but surely went south.

The Cowgirls came out unbelievably aggressive in the opening five minutes of the game, racking up an impressive nine total rebounds (five offensive) to start.

A 3-pointer from guard Lakyn Garrison gave the Cowgirls an 11-3 lead and the defense was holding strong.

However, Tech used a quick 6-0 run and eventually tied the game at 15 with 7:45 in the first half.

The Lady Raiders took a 26-22 lead into the break.

OSU kept the game within four until the 14-minute mark of the second, where Tech went on a crushing 19-0 run spanning nearly 10 minutes to put the game out of reach.

One of the lone bright spots for the Cowgirls was Vicky McIntyre, who refused to let OSU go down without a fight in the end.

McIntyre had 14 of the Cowgirls’ final 16 points, and Toni Young was the only other Cowgirl besides McIntyre to score in the game’s final 14 minutes.

McIntyre led the Cowgirls with 21 points, nine rebounds and five blocks. She was the only OSU player in double figures for the game, while the Lady Raiders had four reach the double-digit mark.

Texas Tech outrebounded Oklahoma State 40-28 and held OSU to just 32 percent shooting from the field.

The Lady Raiders (22-9) will move on to face Oklahoma on Wednesday, while OSU finishes the season at 16-14.
