TULSA, Oklahoma -- The City of Tulsa is helping residents go green with its "Cool Cash" program. It's a joint effort by PSO, the Metropolitan Environmental Trust and the city to offer curbside recycling for old, but working refrigerators and freezers.
Crews picked up the first one Wednesday morning.
Organizers say this is the perfect time to upgrade your appliances and get some money back.
"These refrigerators use a lot of energy - as much as 10 times more than new refrigerators," said Michael Patton with the Metropolitan Environmental Trust.
"So if you have an old refrigerator, you're paying for it every single day."
The "Cool Cash" program runs through August, and the first 800 eligible Tulsans to sign up gets a $25-dollar rebate from PSO.
