ADAIR COUNTY, Oklahoma -- The question of who shot the alligator that had been hanging out near the Illinois River in Adair County has been answered.

A State Game Warden shot the 5'3" gator that was later discovered by a man driving by on his motorcycle.

The warden told The News On 6 that they were not immediately sure that his bullet had ended the gator's life.

They are still trying to find out who abandoned the alligator at the river. If the person transported it across state lines into Oklahoma, they could face federal charges.
